On Saturday 28th March 2009 the 1st/4th Gibraltar Scout Group [M.M.H.O.] will join tens of millions of people around the world in demonstrating concern about the future of our planet by doing something simple yet remarkable. We will turn off all non-essential lighting for one hour at our company buildings and in our own homes between 8:30pm-9:30pm. In 2008, more than 50 million people in 370 cities around the world took part, as the lights dimmed at Sydney’s Opera House, Rome’s Coliseum, the Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge. Even the Goggle homepage went dark for the day! As part of our attempts to raise awareness, on the morning of Saturday 28th March 2009 from 11.30 to 14.00hrs Scouts are required to attend the Earth Hour Rally at Casemates Square. Scouts must wear their blue activity trousers with the Scout Polo shirt of they have one. They should also take some drinks and snacks incase they get hungry. If you are attending please hand in consent forms ASAP Clay |

Recently members of the 1st/4th Gibraltar Scout Troop (M.M.H.O) held their annual Challenge Camp. During the camp, Scouts competed against each other within their patrols. Scouts completed various challenges. Some of the challenges involved incident hikes, orienteering, backwoods cooking and camp gadgets amongst others. All the Scouts had been working hard since last year and had competed to the best of their ability. The Alfred Busto Shield which is awarded to the Patrol of the Year was presented to Wolf Patrol. The Jimmy Norton Trophy for the Scout of the Year was also awarded. This was presented to Patrol Leader Adam Alcantara. Finally the ‘Cuerno de Jarandilla’ was presented to Senior Patrol Leader Stefan Gonzalez. Well done to all those that participated!!!!!!!!! Clayton |
